Back to school and back to the office! Vacation season is over. But the fun never has to stop with flavored nut snacks from Maisie Jane’s! Who says a great nutritious snack can’t taste good? With these selections you’ll want to take some with you every day.
Nuts are the perfect easy to take with you snack. Just 1 oz (a handful) of almonds, for example, provides a walloping 6 grams of protein, 37 percent of the daily recommended intake of vitamin E, 8 percent of the daily recommended amount of calcium, and 6 percent of the daily recommended amount of iron. They also offer a good dose of heart-healthy monosaturated fat that will help satisfy your hunger and make it easier to keep your energy level stable throughout the day.
Walnuts and cashews are almost as good when it comes to nutrition. Almost as much protein, many of the same vitamins and minerals, the same hearty-healthy fat. But walnuts are also are a great source of alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3 fatty acids) that help reduce inflammation in the body and provide an amazing list of helpful health effects! Cashews are one of the few food sources that are high in copper. One ounce of cashews contains 622 micrograms of copper, 2/3 of the amount healthy adults need every day. More research is needed about copper supplementation but it is known that severe copper deficiency is associated with lower bone mineral density and an increased risk of osteoporosis.
Of course, that nutrition stuff is all well and good but, if you’re like a lot of people, eating a snack just for nutrition’s sake is kind of boring. When your energy starts to lag mid-afternoon you want an energy boost to wake up your taste buds, too! That’s where flavors come in.
